New Student Orientation Set for Aug. 29

Posted on August 13, 2010 by Teresa Mackin

Kelley’s New Student Orientation allows academic advisors and school administrators a chance to introduce new students to the school and discuss the many advantages to the Indianapolis location.

More than 300 students are expected to attend the orientation, which begins with registrations at 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 29 in the Lecture Hall on the IUPUI Campus. The event is expected to last until 4 p.m.

On hand to greet and speak to the students will be Ken Carow, associate dean for Indianapolis research and programs; Peggy Lee, faculty chair for the undergraduate program; and Maureen Kinney, director of undergraduate programs. The administrators plan to give brief presentations and then help answer any questions of first-time Kelley Indianapolis students.

Students then will rotate in groups to learn about different elements that make Kelley Indianapolis unique. Among the focus topics for new students will be the importance of academic integrity, the academic resources available to Kelley students, the advantages of getting involved in IUPUI or Kelley groups and the benefits of working closely with the Career Planning Office.

Representatives from the Office of External Affairs will be on site to deliver information about the various communication tools and newsletters utilized by the office to communicate important information to students. The office also organizes all special events and coordinates activities for students to network with alumni, staff and faculty.

New student groups also will have a chance to talk to current Kelley students and ask questions about classes, life and culture at the Indianapolis location.
