Top 100 Profile: Lindsey Gray

Posted on March 6, 2017 by Teresa Mackin

In the days leading up to the IUPUI Top 100 Outstanding Students Recognition Dinner, we will be featuring our Kelley students who have been named a Top 100 for 2017.

What has been your favorite experience so far at Kelley?

I really do not think I can pick just one. But as a whole, studying abroad has been my favorite experience. Never in my life would I have imagined completing two study abroad programs within 4 years. My first study abroad experience was travelling to London and Paris. My second one consisted of travelling to Spain to the cities of Madrid and Barcelona. Both of these experiences have provided me with a great opportunity to experience the different cultures in the world around us. Along with that, it has created a little travel bug in me.

What has been your favorite class and why?

My favorite class was A-204, Financial Accounting with Professor Greg Martin. I enjoyed this class as it laid out more of a foundation for my accounting degree. I also enjoyed this class because of the professor, Greg Martin. Whenever he came to class, he was always extremely passionate and excited to teach on whatever topic that we were going to cover that day. He made the class extremely memorable.

If you had to pick one professor that has impacted you the most while at Kelley, who would it be?

Well, going off of my answer above, you could probably tell that my answer would be Greg Martin. Because he was as passionate as he was about accounting, he kind of passed along that passion to me and made learning fun. Even though accounting courses can be extremely difficult, I would take any accounting course possible with Professor Martin.

Favorite activity/extracurricular activity that you have been involved in while at Kelley?

Delta Sigma Pi, without a doubt. When coming into Delta Sigma Pi, I was very unsure about what I was getting myself into. Looking back now after four years, the students involved in this fraternity have become my family. These are the people that have been my support system, my strength, and my everything. As cheesy as it sounds, these are the people who will do absolutely anything for you. For that, I am forever grateful to them.

What is your Kelley moment?

My Kelley moment involved BUS-X103 with Maureen Kinney. It was in this course when we toured the five different majors that Kelley offers. It was during this time when I fell in love with Ernst & Young when one of the partners, Rob Hofinger, spoke about what EY offers. After this, I stayed in contact with EY and all of the opportunities that they offer. Because of this, I was able to take part in their Emerging Leaders Program which then led to a spring internship which now has landed me a full-time job.
