August 25th not only marks the beginning of the 2014 Fall Semester here at Kelley Indianapolis, but it also kicks off the 40th Anniversary Celebration! This year marks the 40th year that IU Kelley has had a major presence in our state’s capital. To celebrate this momentous occasion, we will have 40 days devoted to this event! I know what you’re thinking … 40 days is a long time. What can you possibly do every day for that long? With the help of our great staff/faculty, we have come up with lots of fun activities to remember this date in history.
Every day will showcase a list of 40 things that have to do with 1974 or Kelley Indy. Have you ever wanted to know what the 40 most popular foods were in 1974? Well you will find out! How about the 40 most haunted places in Indiana? We’ve got you covered. These items will be released on Facebook daily, along with other facts, announcements and promotions. We will also have the Kelley Photo Challenge through Instagram available for our students. Each day we will post a task on Instagram for students. They will take a picture of that item and post it back with the hashtag #KelleyPhotoChallenge. The person who participates the most and sends in correct pictures will be our winner!
If you have ever talked, met or been around an 18- to 22-year-old, you have probably heard of Snapchat. It’s the latest app that let’s you send pictures/videos to your friends with a display length of 1-10 seconds. We have jumped on this trend and will be starting the Kelley Snaphunt! Each day a snap will be sent to all of our Snapchat friends. It will either be a clue, a location on campus, or a task. The first person to complete it and send the snap back wins! Pretty easy, huh? We will be giving away daily prizes with a few great grand prizes thrown into the mix. The only catch is, you HAVE to add us on Snapchat in order to participate. Do it right now so you won’t forget: KelleyIndy.
Not only will there be fun competitions throughout the 40 days, there will also be plenty of ways to celebrate. On September 2, we will have the Founder’s Day Picnic on Taylor Hall Lawn. It will run from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with food, music, and games! Also stop by for the Grand Opening of BS2010 that is now home to the Kelley Undergraduate Programs and Kelley Indianapolis Career Services. This event will take place on September 3 with the program beginning at 3:30 p.m. and an open house to follow at 4:00 p.m
